This Guide to Online Course Design and Development is for all course team members, but with a focus on course authors, or subject matter experts (SMEs), the people who create courses for Athabasca University. It provides an orientation to online learning and gives you an idea of how your AU course might look and function; it demonstrates many of the standard learning objects used in actual AU courses; and finally, it walks you through the steps of creating a self-paced undergraduate course delivered online.
In this section, you would give a brief welcome and introduction to the course and tell learners how to get started. It is also good to urge them to contact and stay in touch with their tutor. Creating opportunities for tutor–student interaction is an important aspect of writing an AU course.
Browse through the interface first if you like, then click on Course Information under the Online Study Guide heading below to start this course.
